• Quad biking
• Paragliding
• Kitesurfing
• Enjoy the thrills and spills of Aqualand
• Climb the tallest peak in Spain
• Other amazing adventures you can try in Spain
Quad biking

One of the best ways to explore parts of Spain is to go on a quad biking tour, and whether you are a family member, a couple, or a group of friends, it is a perfect activity to try. Quad biking not only gives you thrills that other modes of transport cannot compare to, but you will also get to explore rural parts of Spain that you normally wouldn’t get to see.
Quad biking tours are available on the Costa del Sol near Malaga, and they give you access to untouched nature, ranging from barren hills to valleys filled with wild, untamed vegetation.
Quad Safari Costa del Sol offers a variety of trips across the region, and they explain why quad biking is the perfect pursuit to include as part of a family activity holiday:
“From the base, you are only a short distance to the stunning mountains of Mijas. Riding a quad bike is a special experience as you will access areas that you did not know existed on the Costa del Sol. Climbs and drops of the Mijas mountains expose great views and scenery that will take your breath away.”

Paragliding

Paragliding is on many thrill-seekers’ bucket lists, and exploring this beautiful country from high above the sky is the experience of a lifetime.
You don’t need to worry if you have never tried this popular activity before, as Spain offers paragliding for beginners all the way through to experts. You can go paragliding in Almuñécar and experience the rush of soaring over the stunning coastline where you can not only see the Mediterranean, but the mountains too.
If you are staying on the Costa del Sol, Almuñécar is within easy reach as it borders the region.
Kitesurfing

Picture yourself gliding along the waves and feeling adrenaline-boosting speed at sea. These are just some of the sensations you get to feel when you go kitesurfing, and fortunately, Spain is a hotspot for this thrilling sport.
The Costa del Sol is famed for its golden-sand beaches that are perfect for lounging on and enjoying a swim, but there are several spots where you can go kitesurfing all year round.
Los Álamos in Torremolinos is one such place. The 900-metre-long beach is a popular destination for kitesurfers. The weather is stable throughout the year, with pleasant thermal winds and average temperatures around 20º C.
Guadalmansa beach, in Estepona, is one of the windiest on the Costa del Sol, and it is a mecca for kitesurfers. There are loads of kitesurfing courses available for beginners, and the excellent conditions mean that lots of experienced kitesurfers also visit the beach. After you have tamed the waves, you can explore the coastal village as it boasts a stunning historic centre.
If you want to travel further afield, Tarifa is regarded as one of the best spots in Europe for kitesurfing. Miriam, who runs the kitesurfing blog Wake Up Stoked, talks about the best time to go to Tarifa: “The best wind is from April – October, but the end of June – early September are very crowded! If you are planning to stay for longer, you can basically kite year-round but will have some non-windy periods in between.”

Enjoy the thrills and spills of Aqualand

The Aqualand water park offers a fun-filled day to families with water slides, kids’ water play areas, and plenty of pools that parents can relax in.
It is the largest and most popular water park on the Costa del Sol, and it is just 15 minutes from the centre of Torremolinos. There are more than 20 slides at the park, and they come in all shapes and sizes. You have the Kamikaze, which is one of Europe’s highest water slides with a descent of over 20 metres, and then you have a wave pool offering relentless fun.
If you need a bit of downtime, there are a variety of cafes and restaurants and a large garden area.
Cristina, who is the writer behind the My Little World of Travelling blog, says Aqualand has to be on your bucket-list if you are planning activity holidays in Spain:
“Why Aqualand over other parks? First, it has the most attractions. Whether you want to be brave and go down a 22-metre slide (the highest in Europe) or relax in the jacuzzi, you can do it here.”
“My favourite attraction is the crazy rivers! You can go on a single or double float while making your way down through small waterfalls. It’s a lot of fun.”
“The scariest has to be the Boomerang. You’ll probably have to queue at the bottom of the stairs.”
Climb the tallest peak in Spain

Are you up for the challenge of climbing the tallest peak in Spain? At over 3,700 metres, Mount Teide in Tenerife is the tallest mountain in Spain.
There are two ways you can experience this natural phenomenon. One is to follow the challenging trail that begins at Montaña Blanca and takes six hours, and the second is to take the cable car to an altitude of 3,555 metres and then walk the rest of the way up on the Telesforo Bravo footpath.
After the hard work of scaling Mount Teide, the effort will be worth it as you will enjoy some amazing mountaintop views of this stunning volcanic island.
