Our sustainable story

IDILIQ Hotels & Resorts are dedicated to sustainable and socially responsible operations. Our properties implement eco-friendly initiatives aimed at safeguarding the planet while elevating guest experiences.

Whether it’s reducing carbon emissions and waste, removing single-use plastics, choosing our local butcher over a global supplier or offering electric car-charging points, there are many ways (big and small) that we’re trying to do our best for the planet, and our guests.

OUR JOURNEY TOWARDS A MORE SUSTAINABLE WAY OF TRAVEL

Going local

We try hard to support local farmers and food producers and always endeavour to reduce our carbon footprint by sourcing locally. Similarly, we prioritise seasonal ingredients and products that are produced responsibly whenever possible.

Supporting our communities

We strive to have a positive impact within our surrounding communities through local hiring and sourcing, and by supporting local businesses, initiatives, and charities.

Recycle and reuse

We’re dedicated to minimising waste destined for landfills by implementing accessible recycling bins for guest use, alongside composting organic matter on-site. Our properties are committed to a philosophy of recycling, reusing, and reducing waste through proactive environmental stewardship.

Reducing single-use plastics

We’ve stopped the use of plastic straws and coasters in most of our bars and restaurants, replacing them with paper alternatives on request. Similarly, we’ve replaced miniature and single-use toiletry bottles in some of our properties and have sourced eco-friendly beauty products.

MINIMISING WATER USE

Encouraging guests to reuse towels and linen has significantly reduced our water and energy usage. Some of our properties have installed low-flow fixtures and implemented other water-conserving programs like rainwater harvesting for garden irrigation. In some hot countries, our gardeners choose plants that need less water.

REDUCING ENERGY USE

We’re committed to reducing our collective carbon footprint by reducing our emissions. We use LED or energy-efficient lights internally and externally. Timers and sensor systems are installed on items, such as Jacuzzis and heaters. As we continue to upgrade accommodation, we are installing more energy-efficient and automated systems along with improving insulation and replacing windows.

ENCOURAGING NATURE

From installing bird boxes and bug hotels in our UK Hotels to preserving and establishing natural areas on the grounds of our hotter resorts, our properties are taking steps to protect natural habitats and boost biodiversity. Also, by planting native species and those compatible with the region our gardeners avoid unnecessary pesticides and fertilisers.

Supporting our guests’ green journeys

Communicating our green practices to our guests (from recycling to reusing towels) and engaging them in our journey is central to making a difference. We are rolling out onsite electric vehicle charging points and we encourage guests to travel by public transport if possible. We also offer excursions that engage them with the natural landscapes around our properties and forge connections with local communities and the area’s culture.

STAFF AWARENESS

From sustainability training and implementing green practices to cycle-to-work initiatives, we support our staff to do the right thing. Also, we welcome our staff’s green proposals and support individual volunteering and charity work.

GREEN TEAM

The seven Wyndham or Ramada branded properties in our portfolio are proudly aligned with the esteemed Wyndham Green Programme. This forward-thinking initiative champions environmental stewardship by guiding hotels and resorts on a path to sustainability.

WYNDHAM GREEN CERTIFICATION

Our Wyndham and Ramada branded properties have, or are currently undertaking, the Wyndham Green Certification. The process has five progressive levels, which consider elements like energy and water conservation, waste diversion and operational efficiency along with guest and employee education and engagement.

Kind Holidays is founded on a simple, yet profound belief: everyone deserves a break. Our mission is to shine a light into the lives of individuals and families facing life’s harshest challenges by providing free holiday accommodation at our IDILIQ resorts in Europe and Florida.

For countless people, holidays are a taken-for-granted pleasure. However, for those caring for a loved one with a severe illness or disability, mourning a child, serving as an unpaid carer, or adjusting to post-military deployment, a holiday represents a distant dream. These breaks offer not just relaxation, but critical respite and rejuvenation, often acting as a lifeline in their challenging circumstances.

Kind Holidays has gifted over a thousand free holiday stays, thanks to partnerships with charities like Dreams Come True, Give Us Time, When You Wish Upon A Star, and Carers Trust. Together, we have extended the warmth of hospitality to some of the most grateful guests our resorts have ever had the pleasure of welcoming. As pioneers of this charitable initiative, we also invite the wider hospitality sector to join us in this journey.

IDILIQ FOUNDATION

Founded in 1999, the IDILIQ Foundation has pursued its mission to provide support to communities and individuals across the Costa del Sol and Tenerife. This dedication is fuelled by generous donations and contributions from our partners, guests, and employees. Over the years, we have forged a strong commitment to societal welfare, actively collaborating with various stakeholders to tackle contemporary social challenges.

The Foundation prides itself on fostering significant relationships with organisations, associations, and those in need within these regions, continuously addressing their evolving social requirements.

Our efforts extend beyond just financial assistance; we actively engage in collecting food, furniture, clothing, and other essential items, along with donating computer equipment to enhance the quality of life for various groups. In addition, we provide financial aid directly to entities and individuals to meet their pressing needs. Through these initiatives, the IDILIQ Foundation remains a pillar of support, embodying the spirit of solidarity within the Costa del Sol and Tenerife communities.
